SUNDAY SERMON COMMENTS (7.31.05)
TEXT: Philippians 4:1-3
Sunday's sermon began by examining how Paul wants the Philippians to stand firm together for the progress of the gospel.
He first applies this idea in his exhortation to Euodia and Syntyche to get along and be of the same mind. We drew three ideas out of the two verse story of Euodia and Syntyche.
1. NAME -- Christian community happens when we know each other's names. -- i.e., a cute way of saying we actually know each other.
2. CONFLICT -- Christian community happens when people get close enough to make each other mad.
3. CONFRONT -- Christian community happens when we have the relational courage to confront each other.
